Lead Up to GDC 2012

So… It’s been more than just a long time. These past few weeks have been really busy, and I haven’t been able to do my beloved [Retro Monday] articles. But! I’ve been having an excellent day, and I’d just love for you all to keep your fingers crossed for me. I’ve got a fantastic feeling about all of the developments in my life. Pulling two all-nighters in the span of three days was definitely worth it.

The Game Developer’s Conference in San Francisco is upon us! I’ll be a Conference Assistant for my second year in a row, and I’m of course unbelievably excited to once again provide the best conference-going experience possible for attendees and attending a few enlightening talks of my own. I’m also super excited to see all of my friends from last year, and to make a lot of new ones this year!

If you’re attending GDC, let me know! I’d love to meet up.

I’ll try my best to keep FI updated throughout the week!

Cultural Change

Today I spent some quality time with my mom, and surprisingly we didn’t engage in very many battles. In fact, I don’t believe we had any at all during the time we spent together. Let me tell you from experience that when a mother and a daughter are very much alike, they clash. A lot. Little did I know that we were also alike in our career aspirations.

Spike VGAs Tonight

I’ll be heading out to the Spike VGAs tonight, so hopefully later tonight/tomorrow I can do a nice write-up about the awards, nominees and all that. I’ve already got an opinion about some of the nominations–most are not favorable–but I’ll wait until I actually get to experience the show before I start saying anything!

My personal site will also have a write-up of some kind–probably me nerding out–so check that sometime tomorrow afternoon for an idea of what my thoughts were from a non-critical viewpoint.

There comes a time when a game is neither fun nor boring

As I sit here, my one and only final now behind me, I find myself with numerous ways to just allow my brain to relax for a bit. I could play a video game… but I don’t feel like playing any of the ones that I’ve got here. I could start up a PC game… but my laptop sucks and will probably explode by the 15 minute mark. I could read, draw, write, call someone up, daydream for a bit… Instead of doing any of those, I pick up my iPod and tap Bakery Story.

The Future?

I’m gonna have a lot of stuff to cover within the next two weeks! With two of my school projects coming to completion, I now have time to focus more on my individual projects. Expect some analysis on board games! On top of that, I’ll be heading off to Disneyland and Universal Studios next week. The AstroBlasters ride will definitely get its own post. Hopefully the line won’t be too long for Midway Mania.

And, of course, the start of my break wouldn’t be complete without sinking a ridiculous amount of time into my enormous backlog of video games. I’ve got Civilization V, Fable III, Dance Central, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, Black Ops, Costume Quest, Limbo, DK Country, Super Meat Boy… Hell, I still need to finish Halo: Reach.

FullyInteractive is under construction

Hello world! This here is my first post to FullyInteractive. It’s been active for a few days, and I’m finally getting around to populating this thing. Hold tight with me, because once finals wind down I’ll be able to dedicate a good chunk of my time into this.
